Irish mythology creatures
Anatole El Braz has collected elements that allow to link Dahut with Celtic mythology: as a mermaid or Marie Morgane who kills the sailors she meets, she is a creature of the Otherworld, a kind of equivalent to the "angels of death". [15] Lí Bando, a woman or fée of Irish folklore transformed into a mermaid by God, is very close to Dahut and could bring her closer to the group of mermaids, creatures known from Celtic traditions since the 6th century.[23][24][25][26] Le Roux and Guyonvarc'h consider however that Dahut is not linked to the mermaids, even if it is like them a very primitive character.[27]
Émile Souvestre tells a version of the legend of Ys under the title of "Keris". Dahut is presented as the daughter of Grallon "who, to escape her father's vigilance, has gone to live a few leagues from Quimper."[38] She is a "grande magicienne" who has built the wonders of her city and sent the korrigans to help her, contributing to its wealth and opulence. She keeps permanently upon her the keys of the dykes that protect Ys from the sea and tames sea dragons for the service of its inhabitants.[Note 3][39] She gives feasts day and night, which attract crowds. then at sea by a servant.

Mythological beings of Scotland
Scottish mythology is the collection of myths that have arisen throughout Scottish history, elaborated in some cases by successive generations, and sometimes rejected and replaced by other explanatory narratives.
Rivers in Scotland were regarded as the dwelling places of goddesses, and their characteristics denoted the nature of the river, such as the River Forth, which is called the "deaf or silent river" due to its silent flowing conditions, or the River Clyde which is called "the purifying river", as it was the cause of scrubbing and cleansing, carrying "mud and clay" during the flood season. [4]
Once the Picts adopted the Gaelic culture and their real characteristics passed into oblivion, the gaps in history were filled with folkloric elements. The "sudden disappearance" of this people was explained as a massacre that took place at a banquet offered by Kenneth MacAlpin (a typical theme in international folklore) and they were attributed fairy-like powers, brewing alcoholic beverages from brews with secret recipes and living in subway chambers. In the 18th century the Picts were appropriated as a "Germanic" race.[citation needed]
