After an outstanding performance by the marching band, the festival began with a parade from the central park to the capital city, Tegucigalpa. It was an exciting half-kilometer journey to raise awareness amongst the public, ending at the national theatre Teatro Nacional Manuel Bonilla, where the ceremony opened with Compartir's batucada. A total of 400 people attended the event!
With the outstanding participation of the martial band of Asociación Compartir, the festival began with a walk from the central park of the capital city, Tegucigalpa. A joyful half kilometer walk was made, to attract attention, until reaching the Manuel Bonilla National Theater, where the great event was inaugurated with the performance of Compartir's batucada. The event was attended by 400 people.
The exhibition of paintings created by children and young people belonging to the drawing and painting group, was one of the attractions at the entrance of the theater, they were made with relief techniques, using reused material.

Periods of Honduran music
The first songs I did inspired by women were songs like "La Fuerza Que Tenés", about the women I watched cooking and selling food in the streets. Then came "Memoria de La Abuela" inspired by my two grandmothers who were seamstresses by trade and very proud of how they had raised their families. "Haydee" is inspired by a woman who "washes other people's clothes" as they say here. A hard job, but the weekend was the "Queen of Calypso and Reggae".
The first to propose an anthology of the women in my songs was the COMUNICA organization in Honduras. They started using those songs in gender workshops. They encouraged me and put me in contact with some women's organizations. That's how, for example, the song "Historia de Manuelito" came about; an organized group of peasant women were wanting to incorporate men into some of the household chores and they asked me to do a song about it.
I have been asked if I am a feminist. I'm not really aware of what the challenge of being a feminist is today and I wouldn't come close to saying that I am. It's simpler; these are love songs. I have grown up and live surrounded by strong women who have given me great lessons in love and solidarity and naturally they appear in my songs.
